The landlord never responds to messages, we never met in person, instead I met her "ex husband" who warned us that our roommate can sometimes be "weird and strange". Turns out the apartment was filthy, this roommate walked around half naked, constantly brought strangers to the flat and one time he got on a physical altercation with someone. I had to vacate the flat earlier than my move out date because it is too dangerous. The landlord never gave me a response regarding this issue. This flat is not safe or suitable for someone, especially young women.

It was the worst experience I have ever had. Not only the induction was not working and I had to leave my apartment and to terminate the contract before the term, but I also still haven’t received my reimbursement (that the landord has to pay according to the contract signed through the platform Flatio). The landord does not reply and I still don’t know if I will have my money back, after I had to pay for another accomodation since the kitchen’s apartement could not be used.

Good day
Finally, our hands stopped shaking and we can write a review about “this apartment”.
We can confidently say that this was the worst experience in our lives.
A little background. We paid 2,200 euros per month for an apartment of 90 square meters. The price is high, but the area is also quite large. It turned out that the area was only 60 square meters, to which we were told that they had simply made a mistake. One and a half times? This is not a mistake, it is a lie. This point was extremely important for us, since we have two people working from home, and we needed this space.
Further. At the time of our stay in the apartment, the neighboring one was being renovated. Every day, even on weekends, there was noise from hammers and a drill. Sometimes at 7 am. Once, workers came to us and stayed with us for an hour, since they needed access to the premises from our apartment. Imagine, we could not go to the sea for an hour, because workers from another apartment were repairing something at our place. It is impossible to talk to them, they do not understand English, and we do not understand Spanish. We wrote to the owners that this is unacceptable and we were assured that it will not happen again. This happened regularly, but we did not open the door.
Maybe because of the renovation, or maybe not, but the apartment constantly stank of sewage. Your vacation will be of very dubious quality if you live with a constant toilet smell.
Cockroaches!!! There are many of them in this apartment, a lot of them. Once we woke up with a cockroach sitting on our face!
Towards the end of our stay, the hot water was turned off, a little later the electricity. The last day of our stay was without water, without electricity and dozens of cockroaches.
After this, you forget that the apartment is disgusting anyway. There is no soundproofing (you can hear the neighbors snoring), although there are two bedrooms, one is in common access without walls. And the second one in the room without air conditioning and there is nothing to breathe there, upon arrival we were waiting for a mountain of dirty dishes (probably the previous tenants tried to escape from there as quickly as possible)
We asked for compensation of 300 euros per month (which is more than modest, since we were simultaneously renting another apartment for 400 euros cheaper and it was excellent), but they stopped talking to us.

Well, now, dear owners and flatio, expect a lawsuit. We have all the correspondence, as well as video evidence of the whole nightmare with which we had to live. We also filmed the perfect state of the apartment, in which we left everything and washed all the dishes without hot water and electricity.
I strongly recommend that potential clients of this “housing” change their minds. Even for 60 square meters (I hope they have enough conscience to fix the area) and even after the renovation is completed, even at a reduced price, it is not worth it. This is a scam and we are ready to provide evidence of these words

**Location:**
Martim Moniz is an extremely central but very working-class neighborhood. Be prepared for a lively atmosphere, with streets that are unfortunately dirty, smelly, and noisy. The area is active at night, with noticeable drug trafficking, which might be unsettling for some. Additionally, the noise from intoxicated individuals, late-night trash collection, and children playing soccer all day can be disruptive.

**The Flat:**
The apartment itself was adequate, though we encountered several issues during our stay. These included well-worn towels, the presence of ants and silverfish, a broken TV screen, a missing HDMI cable, a leaking shower, and mold in the shower seals. Fortunately, the landlady was quick to address most of these issues within 48 hours. Despite these prompt repairs, the overall comfort was still impacted by the problems we faced.

**The Landlady:**
The saving grace of our stay was the landlady. She was responsive, helpful, and accommodating throughout our time there. When we decided to shorten our stay due to the issues mentioned, she graciously agreed to a partial refund. Her goodwill suggests that many of these problems might be resolved by now.

**Overall Experience:**
Our experience was unfortunate, particularly during the peak season, but given the responsiveness of the landlady, we hope that future guests will have a more pleasant stay.

I rented the unit for just over two months and had to live in a construction zone for approximately 5 weeks. The roof construction was ongoing even during my move out date with no sign of the project ending any time soon. Imagine waking up every morning at 0700 to chainsaws, skill saws, hammering and other machinery. No forewarning from the landlord and they eventually admitted this project was addressed at a meeting between the owners; but they were not present for the meeting. I was also never given a timeline as to when the construction would end.
I reached out to Flatio regarding the issue and they agreed I should receive some sort of compensation for the unacceptable living conditions provided. Although the work was ongoing during bylaw regulated working hours, I did not pay to live in a construction zone. The only resolution provided by the landlord was for me to terminate my lease early and they took no consideration to my suggestion. Their actions towards this issue show a lack of responsibility and disregard for their guests.
I could not take time off work, pack up, move all my belongings during peak tourist season where prices are exorbitant and options are limited. My hands were tied financially.
To summarize: the landlord either withheld information regarding the project or are not responsible enough to know what is being planned at their property. They would have rather eliminated the problem on their end and doubled it on mine than to provide a simple courtesy. Their actions are a direct reflection of their disregard and I would NOT recommend you rent this space. Construction is still ongoing and will be for the foreseeable future.

P.S. The landlord was shocked to see what the construction looked during move out. Now imagine paying to live there.

I have used Air BnB a fair bit. This was my first experience with Flatio. They were great to deal with because of the situation I will describe. On initial check in, the place was an absolute mess. There were clothes piled in the living room and food left out on the counter. I stayed the first night - too late to get a new place, and in the morning I emailed Flatio. Fast response and they got in touch with the landlord. She asked why I didn’t ask her directly about things, but how does one go about telling someone that the place is an utter shambles 10 minutes after meeting them? It’s very awkward. At any rate, she cleaned it up partially that day and I thought that I would tough it out for the next week. It didn’t last a day, and was back to being a mess. Dirt, actual dirt in the bathtub and on the bathroom floor.
She was sleeping there as well but on the couch. When I booked it,
I thought it was a shared accommodation with separate rooms. No. You get the bedroom and she sleeps on the couch. The dog (mentioned in the ad) migrates to wherever it would like to be.
I couldn’t handle it so I got an Air BnB and left. I emailed Flatio again and they got back via email and WhatsApp. Since I elected to stay (initially after the partial cleanup) they paid her out. They explained it all to me. I forgot- she asked me right away about payment. I didn’t know the Flatio system so initially they hold payment until you are checked in and satisfied. After the partial cleaning I emailed again and they gave her the payment.
Never again. This was a learning experience for me. I feel bad for her situation but on her end of things, she is to provide a clean accommodation.
That never happened. In good conscience, I cannot recommend this place.

I have nothing to say about the owner, she has been very nice during my entire three-month stay, and the place is inexpensive for Prague. However, the flat itself has some hidden aspects that are important to mention. It's not bad: the room is very nice, and the living room and kitchen are okay, but there are some issues worth noting.

Firstly, during my stay, there was a problem with hot water because when someone in the building was using hot water, I couldn't use mine. Secondly, sometimes people who do not live in the shared flat come over to cook or to use the sofa... They are not bad people, but it's always surprising to see strangers in our flat.

Overall, my stay was okay, but I think these points are relevant, and people should know about them before coming. I'm sure these issues can be resolved and the situation can improve in the future, but for now, this is how it is. Thank you for your understanding.

Unfortunately felt that Liza did not abide by the contract. Access to the flat was conditional upon her terms a couple of times, e.g. I returned to the flat twice according to my own schedule and she asked me to stay away from the accommodation for a short time (until it suited her). Secondly Liza came into my bedroom without knocking, which is shocking behaviour for someone paying for their own private space. Is a massive shame because Liza supported as a landlord in the beginning. Things just slowly went down hill; even after Flatio got in touch with Liza to advise she picks this up with me, did not receive any contact from Liza attempting to fix this. Would not recommend

The lack of empathy and problem-solving of this landlord was shocking. We had several issues with the house, including it not being cleaned when we checked in, the mattresses being stained and smelly, the washing machine flooding the laundry area every time we tried using it and, worst of all, a nest of cockroaches. We asked for solutions most days and, apart from the cleaning that she apologized and reimbursed for, Marta said "I don't know what to tell you, no one complained about this before, it's best if we cancel the contract" over and over again, saying that she wouldn't pay for anything else (i.e. new mattresses or cleaning the two current ones) as we were just complaining and asking for money. We arrived on a Tuesday, spent Friday to next Friday fighting between her, her mother and Flatio to find solutions and finally were able to leave the house, traumatized by the experience.
To their credit, the house is in a great location and has the potential to be great, if they spend some money on fixing these issues at least - I wouldn't recommend it to anyone at the current state.

Terrible experience!
I vacated the apartment sooner and was accused of leaving the apartment in an untidy condition, additionally I was required to pay a tax of 100 euro for cleaning, a fee that was meant for the other tenant.

I was contacted via WhatsApp by the other tenant, whom the landlord asked to come after me. She came on May 8th, the same day I moved out. She stayed in the apartment during the days I paid for.

The landlady contacted me a week after I left and accused me of leaving the apartment in a dirty condition, even though another tenant stayed after me. It is not my responsibility to clean up after the other tenant she allowed to stay after me.
Unfairness and lack of respect and communication. Definitely I will not recommend this offer!

MUST READ: For our (my younger sister and I) first time experience using Flat.io for a reservation, and after having reviewed the high ratings of this app, we decided to rent a T2 apartment in a small village town in southern Portugal. We had not yet flown in from overseas but took the risk being the first renters of this particular apartment.

The initial advert referenced onsite parking (at the apartment), spacious two bedroom unit with tons of light, all needed within a short proximity of the apartment, a state of the art stove to use, air unit, and more. When we finally arrived we were greeted by Domingo and his wife. Both came across kind but Domingo was a slight bit pushy to quickly show us the apartment and village. From the very beginning we had a major issue; the parking but not only the parking. Also, the roads to get to the unit. My sister flew in from the US and rented an SUV. Attempting to manoeuvre through those super dangerous slim roads seemed impossible. Actually Domingo had hopped in the car with my sister to show her how to turn around and where to park (right in front of the unit). I recall my sister stating at that very moment that this was unsafe and that AirB&B would have never allowed this if it were them. Domingo convinced her that it would be just fine. PS: the next day she crashed the SUV attempting to get through the main road to the apartment. PSS: Immediately after they left, his brother who resided directly across the street, took over that one parking spot. So, we were having to park blocks away - yes blocks and if you rent this place you will also learn - and trek those cobblestone roads back to the apartment. It became an exhausting task.

While in the unit with the couple, they admitted that their ad was incorrect and they basically had lied. It is a one bedroom and not a two. The second bedroom they "figured was a bedroom" was the living room with an extremely old couch that opened up into a bed. That must have been the most disgusting mattress and blanket ever seen. My sister, who is extremely tidy, almost puked and begged me to sleep on the edge of her bed or on the floor until... Also, while in the unit with the owners, they made remarks and comments as to my height and then that of my sister. I hadn't a clue why but my sister had an inclination that it may have to do with the stove. The top unit of the stove was of stone. Perhaps the original piece. Where the true issue lied is that while attempting to cook that evening she almost split her head wide open. She is 5'6 and I am 6'2. The sharp edges of the stone top was so sharp that the following night I seriously hurt my head and split it (I am bald) after walking by the stove. This is why they were making comments about our height. They knew it would be dangerous and kept quiet as they quickly left the home. My sister is a true traveler and she was correct. They left quickly so that they can later say that "we never mentioned it when we arrived"... we had both just traveled for hours and hours to get to PT and then drove almost 3 hours to that apartment. Let me not forget to mention that the oven DID NOT WORK. The top of the stove did work but........here's the kicker....wait on it.... the oven extractor fan he referenced on his original post - that he states he removed but not to worry - ended up being a black hole full of I don't know what - which constantly fell onto the food we were cooking! Additional funds down the drain.

Another major issue was the air in the unit. Basically, there isn't any. So, I felt terrible having to listen to my sister almost cough her lungs out for those few nights and for hours throughout the night. To the point of having to open the windows (WHICH HAD NO SCREENS LETTING A MILLION FLIES IN PER SECOND) and bring her cups of water so she could attempt to sleep through the night. The owner talks about a humidifier that he has in the bedroom for this reason. IT DOES NOTHING TO AID someone's discomfort. I almost took her to the hospital and that is when I said enough is enough.

I had spent over seven hundred euros for the first month. This place was not worth 200 euros. I had a 2.5 month contract but my sister reminded me that if anything was wrong we could contact Flat.io for immediate assistance which I did. For the next 48-72 hours, my sister and I drove around the entire PT it seemed looking for a rental. Being that it's the beginning of summer, this was extremely difficult. We had already spent almost 950 euros on Domingos' place. I reached out to him - no response. So I reached out to Flat.io and they immediately responded and opened up a case. Days later, even they were unable to hear back from Domingo. Wouldn't you know it. This scammer decided to delete the original posting and open up a new one thinking that we wouldn't be able to leave him a review. Flat.io was on it! Thus why I am now leaving this review that you are reading. Domingo waited until the day after the first month ended to respond and do you want to know why? So, he could charge us for the second month saying that it's too late and requesting payment even though we left within one week! Flat.io, to attempt to make the customer feel whole somewhat, were kind enough to reimburse us the entire service fee. They were unable to refund us the monthly rent charge but since Domingo purposely dragged that along and disregarded their request to comment/reimburse us for the lost time, we were unable to collect.

Given, we sent Flat.io AND DOMINGO the pictures of my split bleeding head, the disgusting mattress and blanket, the terrible roads, the lack of parking, and advised them that this was NOT A T2. As my sister is an attorney, she ensures that all sides are covered and was even thinking of this couple which is why I stated to both Domingo and Flat.io that we would definitely pay for the week spent there and lose out on the service fee. But Domingo ended up scamming us and opening up this new post for his rental property. If he was telling the truth why would he do so? He ended up replying to Flat.io later stating that we were scammers attempting to get lodging for free in PT. Does that EVEN MAKE SENSE?

PS: This location is NOT close to ANYTHING WHATSOEVER - 1 HOUR TO ALBUFEIRA. You WILL crash your car so make sure to have insurance. You WILL have to walk every single day back and forth from parking. You most likely WILL split your head open so if you have kids - AVOID THIS UNIT.

ADVICE: For any further travelers entertaining this unit, there are some reviews you consider and other reviews that you follow. You want to follow this one or you'll be the next one writing your horror story on this platform. This is the worst experience in Portugal thus far for us. I wish we could upload pictures to prove our case to you all and save you headaches.

An inappropriate apartment for a medium-long stay. The apartment is noisy since it is located on a main avenue with up to 10 car lanes and an intersection. It was not well insulated and at night the noise would not stop. This forced my early departure from the apartment and Monlar Homes has not wanted to solve the problem by any means. Additionally, in the area there are many street kids asking for money to park in public areas, if you don't pay, they will scold you. I don't recommend it at all.

Wonderful landlord and wonderful to work with. Would respond to my messages within a few hours. Although, the home needs a little bit of updating. I had to clean as soon as I arrived and many things were broken as well. The toilet does not flush more than once an hour which could be an issue if two people were staying there. The counter is cracked and glued together as well as the tub is being held together with plaster. The downstairs neighbors have the TV on all day long so if you plan on working, it might get annoying.

There is no microwave, oven, dishwasher, or laundry machine. These are just things to keep in mind if you plan on staying long-term.

The location is wonderful and it is ok if you plan on being in Prague for a week or less, but I would not recommend it for a long-term stay. I did move out early and Aurelien did make that very easy.

"Jan Dudensing" is a disbarred former attorney from Sacramento California. You may google her name. Our rental during our family's relocation was a disaster and we are continuing our legal avenues to recover nearly 3K Euro in lost rent and incurred costs. We were forced to move from her Campo Pequeno flat because of constant harassment requesting to allow strangers visit the flat who were interested in long term rentals. The walls were moldy, wet and the appliances could not be used at the same time - obviously the wiring was badly done during the 'renovation'.
She is aggressive, unapologetically so - and continually (even now, weeks later) threatens us with lawsuits and the like, all because we advised her in advance that we were moving to another flat because of the constant requests to allow strangers to "view" the flat.
Please beware and avoid this landlord at all costs.

BEWARE! DO NOT STAY HERE! Staying here was the worst experience of any accommodation I have ever had in my life. The landlady kicked me out without any early written notice or any reason, only after 19 days of my living in her house (my contract period is 30 days), which severely breached the agreement (3 days early written notice only when the tenant has fault). There was a guy named Dan in the house (I don't know who he is or their relationship) who told me deliberately on late night of December 3rd that on the next day I should leave and never come back (I was planning to travel to Spain for a short 6-day period while maintaining residence in the house). The landlord was away that night (I don't know if she did this on purpose). I sent her messages to ask her if that was what she wanted. At first she denied knowing anything about this Dan kicking me out but then changed to say that Dan can do what he wants and she authorized him to do so. That was ridiculous and horrendous! When I tried to call the police this Dan guy intimidated me and threatened that the police would not help me because I do not speak Portuguese.

I had to move out early next morning at 6 am because I had plane to catch and I was much concerned about the safety of my personal belonging and myself. I did not leave voluntarily but was forced to. However the landlady told Flatio that I left voluntarily. During all this process the landlady never gave any reason for expelling me nor any early writtn notice stating any fault that I had had. Only an oral notice in the middle of the night just 6 hours before expulsion from a Dan guy who is not any party of the agreement. She took advantage of me having to travel early next morning. I had to find a place to store my personal stuff in the middle of the night!

I was forced out of the place without any reason or compensation. The most unbelievable thing was yet to come. When I later claimed my remnant part of rent from Flatio the landlady produced a document that they wrote with a fake signature of me, stating that they gave me some money back and even deducted a cleaning fee. This was extremely ridiculous as Flatio clearly states that there is NO CLEANING FEE ever! So far I have not gotten my money back, let alone any penalty or compensation from the landlady. That means I paid 450 euros for 19 days, much of a highway robbery.

To tell some truth about this place, the rent seems cheap (450 euros per month) but you have to beware that it is literally in the middle of nowhere. Even the roads leading to it are unmade, full of rubble and ravel. You cannot even get here if you do not have a car. Even worse, the landlady's fanboy Dan asks male tenants to sit down on the toilet seat to pee instead of standing and the landlady has to turn off the WiFi at night because she thinks it affects her sleep.

I still cannot believe what has happened to me here. It was such a frustrating and traumatic experience. A total disaster and nightmare. My suggestion: STAY AWAY AS FAR AS YOU CAN.

Warning: Unpleasant Experience BE CAREFUL !!!

I recently had the displeasure of staying in a property during my holiday in Lisbon, and I feel compelled to share my experience to caution other potential tenants.

Firstly, my stay was marred by an unexpected and exorbitant charge imposed by the landlord. Initially, they insisted on charging an outrageous 400EUR extra for guests, even though the property was advertised as accommodating a certain number of people. This unexpected demand was not only unfair but also put a damper on our holiday plans.

Upon refusing to comply with this unreasonable request, the landlord then revised the extra charge to 258EUR. While negotiating, we agreed to pay 158EUR as a compromise. However, this seemingly amicable agreement took an abrupt turn when the landlord threatened to kick us out of the property if we didn't agree to their revised terms.

This entire experience was incredibly stressful and unsettling, especially during what was supposed to be a relaxing holiday. It's disheartening to encounter such unprofessional behavior from a landlord who is supposed to provide a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

My advice to future tenants considering properties in Lisbon is to exercise caution. Ensure that all terms and conditions are clarified and agreed upon in advance to avoid any unwarranted surprises. Unfortunately, my experience has compelled me to give the landlord a lower rating, and I sincerely hope that others can learn from my ordeal.

In conclusion, my holiday in Lisbon was overshadowed by the unpleasant dealings with the landlord. I hope this review serves as a warning to fellow travelers and encourages landlords to address such issues promptly to maintain the trust of their tenants.
