House for rent - Sesimbra

Small renovated house, 2 minutes walk from the water's edge of Lagoa de Albufeira, 10 minute walk to the beach, and a 40 minute drive to Lisbon (or a 20 minute drive to the train station).

This is the perfect place for quiet work and to be surrounded by nature. Listen to the owls hoot and the ocean roar as you sleep.

The house is half of a larger property but has its own entrance and garden gate, and it is fully independent. It has 2 bedrooms, one with a single bed, and another with a double bed, and an open plan living room with kitchenette. The space is bright and comfortable. It has a garden in front, with a small table and chairs. This garden is fenced from the next door's garden (which is mine), and protected from the street with a closed fence for privacy. Inside, the houses are separated by an inside door, which is always locked.

I am quiet, friendly, and non-intrusive. I work in Lisbon part of the week and am in Lagoa the rest of the time.

This is mostly a residential neighbourhood; there a few cafes you can walk to, and a couple small and very limited grocery stores. There is a charming local market on the weekends, selling fruits, vegetables and bread. A five minute drive away, and you’ll be in Alfarim, where there are more shops (supermarkets, bakeries, butcher, fish shop, laundry, etc.), and a good offer of restaurants and cafes. Larger supermarkets are a 20 min drive away, outside Sesimbra.

Because of the location, and sparse public transportation offers, you would be limited here without a car.

This is a place for enjoying peace and quiet - there are no parties allowed and to ensure everyone’s rest, there is no noise after 11pm

I had a great time in Inês' lovely apartment and felt at home there. The village and its surroundings are wonderful, the apartment is tasteful and well equipped and the perfect spot to spend quiet days right next to the beautiful lagoon and in walking distance to the ocean. I used it for tourism as well as for remote work and it was the right place for both uses. Inês, the landlord, lives next door which comes in handy because she is very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. She was always there to answer my questions or to help me out.
Neighborhood
It's a quiet neighborhood with holiday and residential buildings. It's beauty lies in the surrounding nature, especially the lagoon and the ocean. There is no village center, so the services, especially in winter, are a little limited. Still you can find nice bars and restaurants in walking distance and the neighboring villages have all the services you might need. Lisbon can be reached by a 45 minutes car ride or by combining car and train/ferry.
Recommended places nearby
Lagoa's market is lovely and you can do your grocery shopping there. Also, Lago has some nice bars/restaurants. Segredos do Terra in neighboring Alfarím and Aloha Bar in Aleida do Meco are definitely worth a visit.
