How to Find a Digital Nomad Partner

30. august 2022 · 2 minute

Traveling the world with someone is always a lot more fun than traveling alone. But it also poses some extra challenges like agreeing on where you’ll go, dealing with accommodation, and more. However, the hardest part of having a traveling partner is finding one. So here are some tips on how to do just that.

Meet other nomads in real life

The number one thing you need to do is to meet other digital nomads. This sounds easier said than done. But don’t worry, there are tons of places you can meet like-minded people.

When it comes to offline spaces, you have a wide range of options. Take to google, or our Flatio blog, and see if there are any coworking or coliving spaces in your destination. Living or working with people that are interested in the same field in the same destination is a great way to start talking and bonding. The added advantage of coworking and coliving is that you will see the people regularly which gives you many opportunities to strike up a conversation. Just make sure that if someone is not interested, you don’t chase after them against their wishes.

Another good place to meet people is networking events and groups where people go to relax. Here you might not necessarily find someone who has the same interest work-wise, but you might find someone who you enjoy spending time with. After all, the most important thing is the experiences you will have with your traveling partner, not necessarily the work you both do.

Apps for meeting travel partners

Online spaces can also be useful here. If you’re searching for a romantic partner for traveling, you can try the Digital Nomad Soul app which connects you with other nomads all over the world. This app is great since it provides you not just with meaningful connections and long-distance relationships (both friends and partners) but it also helps with traveling as part of the relationship experience. Don’t be afraid to get out there and chat with great people.

You can also try Travel, Meet, Date, or Miss Travel but they aren’t as focused on the digital nomad community. However, you might be lucky and find the right person for you with whom you can spend the next few years traveling the world.

Another place where you can meet digital nomads online is Facebook groups. Go online and see if your destination has a nomad group. There are tons of people who want to meet other nomads, and not just for networking, so the opportunity to find someone who is looking for a meaningful connection or a travel partner is pretty big.

Lastly, you can always cast a wide net and try sites like OkCupid and Tinder. These sites have tens of thousands of people from all over the world, though they are often people who don’t want to live the digital nomad lifestyle. Even then, you might be lucky and meet the right one.
