Who are medium-term rentals suitable for?

Have you ever asked yourself why people are looking to live somewhere for just a few months? The reasons may be different, for example, the way we are used to living is constantly changing - today it’s simply not so common to rent housing for a year or longer. Young people, in particular, desire more freedom, enjoy traveling and want to learn about different cultures. To do so, they use the potential of working from home (home-office), which allows them to cover travel and accommodation costs at the same time. Travelers or so-called digital nomads (those who travel around the world and work) are a frequent group of people using medium-term accommodation.

Another group of people for whom mid-term accommodation is tailor-made are undoubtedly university students traveling not only within the Erasmus program. They are also satisfied with the fully furnished apartments that are offered for mid-term rent, including an Internet connection - all worries about finding free Wi-Fi or furnishing the housing are gone and they can simply focus on studying in a quiet environment that the college living usually cannot offer.

A large demographic of people using housing for a few months are also employees sent by their company for a work stay or an internship. This group of people will especially appreciate the worry-free feeling or the feeling of home with which the mid-term rentals of fully equipped apartments are associated. They only need a suitcase with personal belongings and clothes for relocation or work stay. They don’t have to be stressed by buying bed linen, getting an Internet connection or furnishing the place. Companies are then happy with the opportunity of renting an apartment based on a lease agreement along with a possibility for invoicing.

Medium-term rentals are also widely used by people who are reconstructing/completing the building of their own housing or looking for long-term rentals and just need temporary accommodation. Rentals for the purpose of treatment or just relaxation in the city are not exceptional either!

We do not need to explain that demand creates supply. And so it happened that to the growing demand for a few months housing was responded to by landlords from both, short-term rentals and long-term. Mid-term rentals create an ideal intersection between the benefits of both. For landlords, they mean much higher earnings than long-term leases combined with less stress than with short-term leases. Housing for a few months is characterized by the lower turnover of tenants. It is therefore not necessary to clean the housing and change the bed linen every third day. And if those services are outsourced, the landlords save the costs for them with mid-term rentals.
