Public Places for Remote Work in Barcelona

23. april 2022 · 2 minute

Barcelona is overflowing with things to do, places to see, and people to meet. It is one of the best places for remote workers in Europe and many have rightfully made it their new home. But where should you work if you don't want to work from home? Here's just a taste of the many places where you can work remotely in Barcelona.

Cafés for remote workers in Barcelona

Cafés are great for remote work. Not only do you have staff that’s taking care of you but there are people around to make you feel less lonely. One of the best places is Sabio Infante, a café in the Gracia neighbourhood. It’s great for work over the week but very full on the weekends, serves great desserts and tapas, and it’s near the countless restaurants in the neighbourhood that you can enjoy after work.

For a more secluded and cosier feel, go to La Cala in Barceloneta. The café has some basic snacks and foods as well as a strong Wi-Fi and a great staff. Come on weekdays if you want to avoid large crowds. The last place to recommend is Sandwichez, a chain coffee shop, whose strong Wi-Fi, good selection of foods and drinks, interesting locations, and many remote workers makes it an excellent bet for whenever you just want to get some work done or try some networking.

Libraries for remote workers in Barcelona

Many people consider public libraries to be a bit boring, but a well-stocked public library will be the best place for work by far. Barcelona has over sixty public libraries with no fees for getting your library card, strong Wi-Fi, calm and quiet workspaces, and some even lend laptops.

Since there are so many, it’s difficult to pick the best of the best but here are just a few that are easy to get to from the centre of Barcelona. Biblioteca Barceloneta - La Fraternitat in Ciutat Vella is in the historical centre of Barcelona and as such has the gorgeous architecture to match the beautiful knowledge hiding inside.

Biblioteca Camp de l'Arpa - Caterina Albert in Sant Martí is a modern and slick-looking library whose large space provides both more communal places to focus as well as many nooks and crannies to hide in. The open-spaced Biblioteca Joan Miró in Eixample is our last pick, especially for the water surfaces outside which you can gaze at for inspiration. It is also very comfortable and easy to access.

Parks in Barcelona for remote workers

When the weather is as beautiful as it often is in Barcelona, why not work outside? While you need mobile data of some sort to work outside and the connection may not be as stable as it would be using Wi-Fi, it’s a great pick for changing your environment and getting some fresh perspective on things.

The architecture and the view of the city skyline in the Güell Park will inspire you to think outside of the box while the Pedralbes Palace Gardens provide a great place to be alone with your work. In such a green city like Barcelona, you won’t have any problems finding a beautiful place to refresh your working muscles.
