Remote Working and Networking in Porto

20. october 2021 · 2 minute
Now that you know about the best places to co-work in Porto, you might be wondering what opportunities this city offers for digital nomads and remote workers. Well, the good news is that there are many different things to recommend, from online groups to real-life events, but there are so many that they might be a bit confusing. So below is a selection of the best networking groups and events you can find in Porto.

Networking groups in Porto

There is a wide variety of groups you can join where you’ll get the chance to meet people with the same lifestyle as yourself. There’s the Facebook group Porto, Digital Nomads by the site Digital nomads. pt. It’s not a huge group, only a couple of hundred people, but you can ask for advice and see the experiences, which is guaranteed to help you out at the beginning of your stay. A slightly Bigger Facebook group is Digital Nomads Porto, where you can also ask questions or even directly email the group's admins for help.

There are also in-person meetups that focus on networking for digital nomads. For example, there is the Porto Digital Nomads Meetup which gets together every couple of months (though now only as often as the circumstances allow) with dozens of people attending each time. There is a small fee of €3 for each meetup, but it’s well worth the price for finding people like yourself.

There is also the Porto Startup Coffee meetup which aims to get people together after work, from entrepreneurs to investors, to get to know each other and find ways to find success with their companies. If you want to start working on a project or join an existing one, this is a great place to make it happen.

Networking events in Porto

Porto may seem small, but there are many networking opportunities. Firstly, there is Founders Founders, which hosts events on how to grow your business and how to deal with problems and changes within the tech industry. This is all present in their Founders Conference (taking place this year on 18th December), focusing solely on founders, investors and their projects.

You can look forward to panel discussions and talks on how to begin and keep your start-up, as well as a fireside chat in the evening and a cocktail afterparty. With a day like that, you’re bound to make some valuable contacts. Another place to keep an eye on is Porto i/o, a coworking space that sees many events and evening networking meetings organised there. It’s a great destination not just for work but for finally getting a project off the ground with the community's help.

Lastly, Synergy Coworking also allows its members to attend events, group meetings, and fun activities that will help you get to know people. It’s a bit more closed off but well worth the visit.
