Best Courses for Digital Nomads

5. august 2022 · 2 minute

Do you want to upskill or reskill but you don’t know how? It can be a long way toward learning new things or getting more proficient in things you already know, but with these seven courses and sites, you will be a better digital nomad in no time.

Codeacademy

Starting with a famous programming site, Codeacademy is the number one resource for anyone who wants to learn a new programming language or wants to learn more about one they already know. They feature everything from Python, Java, C, and HTML to Ruby, Swift, and more. The courses are highly interactive so you can always see the result of what you just learned. And they offer courses on web design as well.

Duolingo

Learning a new language can be difficult, especially when you try and do it on your own. But Duolingo can be a great way to start learning grammar and vocabulary early and in small increments that won’t overwhelm you. We still recommend finding a teacher to truly learn a language, but this tool will keep much of what you know fresh in your memory for weeks to come.

Skillshare

As the name suggests, this site gives you access to online courses on anything from video editing, audio mixing, photography, and other skills. But more crucially for digital nomads, they also have courses on how to be more productive, tips for freelancers, and more. Very few places online give you this much in one subscription.

Khan Academy

This site has been running for a good while and there’s a reason for it. The quality of the courses, especially in mathematics and programming, has given many people the opportunity to learn and better themselves. If you want to know more about mathematical fields, this is a great resource unmatched by any other.

Digital Nomad World

This is a truly perfect resource for digital nomads. It features the usual programming courses, design courses, courses that teach you how to work with specific pieces of software, and so forth. But it also provides courses like mindfulness meditation, how to do online teaching, and even provides life coaching. There’s just a lot to explore and its specific focus on nomads gives it an edge over other sites.

Udemy

Another site that offers all kinds of courses, this one is less general and hosts many digital nomads who are sharing their knowledge for reasonable prices. There are courses for everything from SEO and copywriting to organizing one’s life before setting out on a nomad journey. While all the other sites might have very professional content, here you can learn directly from other digital nomads and their experiences.

University courses

The last thing to recommend is the more traditional route for learning and that’s university courses. There are many to choose from, but most digital nomads have success with degrees in linguistics, teaching, English, web development, graphic design, marketing, communications, or business. These can be very expensive and time intensive even though some universities offer degrees aimed at working people. However, you are likely to get a high-quality education and a degree that will look good on your CV.
