Best Routine Building and Habit Tracking Apps

17. august 2022 · 2 minute

Learning how to have a good routine can be a difficult thing. Between managing your time, staying motivated, and actually being productive, there’s a lot to keep track of, especially at the beginning. So here are 5 great apps that will help you keep your routines and habits.

Habitify

This is a very straightforward app. It lets you write down your daily habits as tasks that you can later check off the list when you’ve completed them. There isn’t much more to it than that.

The convenience of the simplicity and clarity will help you keep your daily habits organized and in a week or two, you won’t even need to look at the app.

Coach.me

This app is much like Habitify in its core features but it shines in the extended social aspects of its design. Coach.me is a decent habit tracking app but for each task you put on the list, there is a discussion thread full of users who may have some good ideas on how to do the task effectively or how to keep the habit.

Additionally, you can head to the coaching section where you can have an affordable coach check on you and give you advice on your progress. If you need a bit more support from the outside, then this is the perfect app.

Strides

Similar to Habitify, you can set up habits as tasks and complete them every day. What Strides has over Habitify, however, is that it tracks how often and in what way you completed tasks.

You can set tasks with a yes or no option (for example, if you worked out or not) and then see as it tracks your progress in that task throughout the week.

This is especially useful since there are some habits you don’t need to complete every single day, but maybe only a few times a week. Tracking your habits over time has never been easier.

Beeminder

This app absolutely raises the stakes. It tracks your tasks but each time you fail to fulfill the task, a small amount of money will be taken off your credit card. And that number increases the more you fail to keep the habit. So there is extra pressure to make sure that you do keep habits.

The app is also very good for tracking progress in other apps. It connects to seemingly everything from Twitter, Apple Health, Duolingo, github, Gmail, to Trello, Slack, and Fitbit. This lets you track progress over time from all kinds of areas of your life so you don’t need to create special tasks in Beeminder - it’s all in one place.

Habitica

If you need different motivation than money to keep your habits then Habitica might be for you. It gamifies your progress through your daily habits by tracking them as skills on a fictional character that grows in levels and strength. You can then take your character on an adventure alone or with a group and get rewards.

Not only is there the incentive to make your character better, but there’s also the social pressure to make your character as good as possible so the group can successfully complete the adventure. It’s not for everyone, but if you like RPGs and games in general, this might be a fun way to learn new habits.
