Family-friendly locations for midterm stays in Portugal

1. june 2021 · 2 minute
Your country is finally easing off their restrictions on travel, and your company wants to use this opportunity to locate into Portugal for a mid-term stay? Or perhaps the quarantine has drained you so entirely that only an extended visit to Portugal can untangle all your nerves. Either way, you’re looking for family-friendly locations in Portugal, and we’re here to help.

A family-friendly stay in Lisbon

Lisbon is a beautiful city with amusements for the whole family. There are all kinds of accommodations spanning from cosy apartments in the centre to large ones in calmer parts of the city such as Estrela or Principe Real. The town is well interconnected with local public transport, making it easy to navigate. But Lisbon is not just convenient, but fun as well. If you want to see some marine life, visit the Lisbon Oceanarium with over 8000 sea creatures. If you’re going to be outside, head on to the Lisbon Zoo, which boasts everything from tigers and primates to a cable car and even a Children’s farm for petting animals and learning about crops.

If you feel more like delving into the mechanical part of the world, visit the Pavilhão do Conhecimento, an interactive science centre that will especially captivate older kids. And when all else fails, you can take a ride around the city in a Tuk-Tuk or take the yellow tram. As you can see, there are loads to do in Lisbon, and we’ve barely mentioned a fraction of all there is.

A family-friendly stay in Algarve

Algarve is the southern-most part of Portugal which has a warm climate and access to the Atlantic Ocean. It is sought after by millions of tourists annually and for a good reason. The region is safe, sunny, and offers a lot to enjoy. There is the Zoomarine which is both an aquatic zoo and a water park. One moment you’ll marvel at lively dolphins and learning about endangered species of parrots, and the next, you’ll be swooping down the Jurassic River slide or enjoying some lovely refreshments. Other places which are similar to Zoomarine are the Slide and Splash (self-explanatory) or Aquashow. But if you want something a bit more adventurous, why not try the Parque Aventura. Here, you can complete three different high rope courses in a beautiful forest area. The courses are safe, and the well-trained staff will help you with anything you need. But ultimately, overcoming the challenges that this course puts before you is the game’s main aim. There is a lot more to see, like Praia da Rocha or the Albufeira beaches, the Quinta do Lago mini-golf, or the dolphin boat tour, so it’s not an over-exaggeration to say that Algarve is probably the best destination for you and your family.
