How to Improve Your Quality of Life in 2022? Top Cities in Europe

15. february 2022 · 2 minute
We are all constantly looking to be happier and healthier, but not many people consider that their best bet is to move to a different city to achieve that. Whether it comes to opportunities, services, or communities, these are the top five cities that have a high quality of life in 2022 and that you should consider moving into, even if only for a few months living.

Vienna

The Austrian capital has a lot to offer, and so it consistently comes up first in many ex-pat polls. Despite being a European capital, many people find it reasonably affordable, and the opportunities the city brings are plentiful and usually well paid. Healthcare and public transportation are also often touted as excellent, so it’s easy to see how this city appeals to just about anyone. The one drawback is that people have complained that it is difficult to make new friends in the town to come across as unfriendly.

Prague

Though the Czech Republic is an often-overlooked European country, its capital often makes it on many a quality of life top ten list. Leisure opportunities, transportation, and even public healthcare are all much-appreciated features of Prague. And unlike Vienna, the café and pub cultures make meeting new people easy. The only problem for some might be the steep rents compared to Prague’s relatively low salaries. This might not be very noticeable for many professional jobs, but average jobs will see a lower salary than those of the same position in more western countries.

Zurich

Switzerland is a wealthy country, and so it only makes sense that its cities provide one of the best qualities of life out there. Zurich is very multicultural in its people and in all the different cultural events, performances, and exhibitions you can visit. The city is well connected and provides a near-endless number of restaurants, cafes, pubs, and more. But as you can imagine, all of this entertainment can be rather costly, and Zurich does itself no favours by being one of the more expensive cities in Europe to live in on top of that. If you’re looking for a budget solution, this might not be it.

Düsseldorf

Germany is home to many beautiful cities like Munich or Berlin, but Düsseldorf is partially worth mentioning because it’s not a widely known destination. Most tourists virtually ignore most tourists; Düsseldorf provides visitors with an authentic and rich experience. Its architecture needs to be especially noted for its modern style, quite unlike any place in Europe. Its large pub scene and world cuisine make a living here a pleasure for the senses, undisturbed by the bustle of larger cities and the overcrowding of tourists.

Copenhagen

This city has made headlines a few years back for its high placement in the happiness index, and its spot is fully deserved. The city is well known for its care for the health and the environment, low pollution and low traffic density. And while it’s not the most affordable city on this list, the opportunities you can encounter there more than makeup for that. If you want to be in a culture where work-life balance isn’t just a buzzword, Copenhagen is the place for you.
