Remote Working and Networking in Lisbon

29. october 2021 · 2 minute
Lisbon is a vibrant metropolis with countless opportunities for networking and remote working, but because there are so many, some of them might be a bit harder to find. When a city is as busy as Lisbon, many great opportunities get drowned out by its everyday business.

So below are some of the best online places to join and events and real-life opportunities to check out in while searching for a flat for rent in Lisbon, that are great for networking and remote working.

Online Groups in Lisbon

Lisbon has many digital nomads and remote workers visiting the city to find great opportunities and meet like-minded people. But where to find them? Well, there is the DigitalNomads.pt which is a curated community of digital nomads, usually connected through two Facebook groups: NOMADX and NOMADX Community-first.

Both groups are an excellent resource for learning about events and meet-ups, so make sure you keep an eye on them. The Lisbon Digital Nomads Facebook page also organises events, talks, and meetups, so they are a great way to learn something new or find friends.

Lastly, there is the Lisbon Digital Nomads & Expats, which offers many great resources for living in Lisbon, such as where to advertise yourself, where to find coworking cafés, or even how to get a visa. But the group itself is mainly for chatting, asking for advice, and finding people with the same interests as you in Lisbon.

Cafés

As mentioned above, one of the places where digital nomads and remote workers like to go are cafés. Suppose you want to meet other remote workers, head on down to cafés like Outsite Cowork Café, Hello Kristof, or the Mill. But that’s not the only place you can go. We have written a whole article on where to find the best coworking spaces in Lisbon so that we won’t bother you with that here. Suffice to say: you’ll have plenty to choose from.

Start ups

But remote working is not just about the physical space but also about the opportunities you can get in the city. Lisbon has seen an explosion of small and middle-sized start-ups which are all eagerly looking for new faces with their own experiences to help them get their idea off the ground. The city has been very supportive of these smaller projects, so if you have been nursing an idea for one, this is the place to get a team together and build something truly unique.

Events

There are many real-life events to check out, like the WebSummit, an annual technology event that brings together the biggest names in tech in the world - both founders and investors.

There’s also the DNX festival with workshops, parties, and events that get you closer to the community in Lisbon and teach you more about the lifestyle.

Both of these events are a must for any serious remote worker.
